10 months circus education

In this ten-month basic training course for contemporary circus, we offer you the opportunity to engage intensively with the art of contemporary circus and take a good step towards your goal of becoming a professional circus artist.


More than 160 days of movement, space for creativity, a highly motivated team - ZIRKUS in an intensive, practical form with theoretical background knowledge.

Outstanding instructors and artists support the participants in their daily artistic work. They have many years of pedagogical experience and look forward to concentrated work with a fixed group.

And what is your intention?


The facts at a glance:


  • 10 months of circus, intensive practical and theoretical training
  • The CIRCUS EDUCATION YEAR concentrates on circus techniques in the areas of AIR, FLOOR and HANDSTAND as well as partner acrobatics where applicable. Regular training in the following disciplines/subjects: aerial acrobatics (trapeze, ring, cloth, rope or straps), floor acrobatics/dance acrobatics, handstand training, physical preparation (classical dance, strength, flexibility, fitness), intensive workshops depending on the composition of the group: Juggling, hula hoop, partner and group acrobatics, Chinese pole, cyr wheel, contortion/flexibility, contemporary dance, urban dance, physical theater/presence training... as well as theoretical seminars from the fields of body, history, music and other genres support the continuous growth of skills and knowledge. Working on artistic expression and interpretation is an essential part of the program.
  • Working hours: Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (except on public holidays and selected Berlin school vacations)
  • Stage routine: a workshop performance in December and a joint final project in Berlin.
  • We work in fixed groups in order to support our students individually and to strengthen togetherness and interaction.
  • The training languages are German and English. We are very supportive of our foreign applicants, but also expect them to make an intensive effort to learn German.
  • Costs: 4000€ - installment payments are of course possible without additional costs. 
  • Support with the further planning of the artistic path, with the preparation of application documents, advice on professional orientation and funding applications.
  • Locations: Seneca intensive studios Berlin Marzahn, acrobatic hall Cabuwazi - Berlin Marzahn, acrobatic hall Lausitzer Platz - Berlin Kreuzberg

  • Basic information on the structure of the EDUCATIONAL YEAR CIRCUS

    The EDUCATIONAL YEAR CIRCUS is divided into 5 phases.


    Phase 1 - Lots of training but also theory - When the head is well filled, the body also works better and creativity can unfold to its full potential. As we consider theoretical backgrounds to be very important for circus artists, there are basic theoretical seminars


    Phase 2 - build-up phase - finding a group, lots of training, dealing with the body, your own limits and possibilities... sweat, push, grow! The open days, the big improv jam session, a workshop performance at the end of the year, start planning your own pieces, prepare for entrance exams as required


    Phase 3 - work with artistic performers and directors - lots of training and the development of several stage pieces for the final performance


    Phase 4 - Training, training, training! - Group-related training and rehearsals, space and time to realize own artistic projects, group trip


    Phase 5 - Creation phase - In the final phase, your own pieces are developed, rehearsed and brought together with the creations of the professional directors developed in the group to create a joint full-length final performance - the KONDENSAT. Experiencing the stage together is a central component of the Educational Year Circus.
