Next Seminars/Workshops:

  • 07.11. // How to Start a Project [ENG/GER]

How do you start an artistic project—and, above all, where do you begin? This workshop focuses on learning about different ways to start a project and consciously shaping your own working methods. Under the guidance of Felix Baumann and Robert Schulz, participants are guided through a dynamic method that enables different approaches and leaves room to choose your own path, sometimes turning back, leaving things behind, and picking them up again later.

Through joint reflection and mutual support within the group, a practical exchange emerges that helps participants get started more quickly – both in their artistic work and in organizational and conceptual areas. The aim of the workshop is to develop individual strategies for establishing a clear starting point from which projects can grow. The workshop is aimed at anyone who wants to get their ideas moving and develop their work processes in a targeted manner.

  • 14. & 15.11. // From the Idea to the Project - Introduction to Production and Project Management [ENG/GER]

How does an idea become a project? Introduction to project and production management.

We venture a ride through the landscape of funding applications and look at the numbers game in financing plans. What are minimum fees, who earns what, and why? We look individually at what your goal is and how we can get there. What markers does your milestone planning contain? What else is involved in production? And what do I need to consider when it comes to contracts, room rentals, travel, transport, social media planning, PR, documentation, and financial management? In two sessions, we will focus on the preparation, implementation, and follow-up of projects. Once everything, once everything that your artistic idea needs to grow and flourish.

  • 21.11. // Writing Performance: Stories that Move - A workshop on creativity, authorship & movement [ENG]

In this workshop, participants will explore how writing is an integral part of dance creation and reflection. We will analyse examples of dance works that use text, experiment with acting and drama exercises, explore improvisation, discuss the role of dance criticism, and craft written materials that support our artistic journey - whether for a grant, social media, or venue. Together, we will work on creating artist statements, finding ways to articulate your practice with clarity and personality.

The workshop encourages playful experimentation and reflection, helping participants develop confidence in translating movement into words while keeping their creative voice alive.  This will be a hands-on, active workshop! Please come ready to dance, act, speak, write, draw, and share ideas. Everyone is welcome, from all backgrounds and artistic fields and interests.

  • 28.11. // Spicy PR - Community & Publika [ENG/GER]

We all know the feeling of putting our heart and soul into something and still not being sure whether people out there will even notice. Public relations can sometimes feel like a wild mix of gut feeling, improvisation, and chance—and that's exactly where we come in.

How do we reach our audience? Are flyers and posters out of fashion or are they currently very retro? Not everyone is on Instagram and Facebook, right? Is TikTok worth it for me? You prefer to address your audience personally, but how can you do that? Does the press write about you too rarely or not at all? Are there other ideas for reporting? What does public relations actually encompass? And when do I start documenting and what are my goals in doing so? What kind of public relations is right for my work and artistic projects?

Let's develop individual strategies so that we can reach the people for whom we develop our cultural offerings with love, imagination, and energy.

  • 05.12. // Dramaturgy in the Moving Arts [ENG/GER]

In this workshop, we explore the field of dramaturgy from three perspectives: body, communication, and audience. Together, we ask which bodies we want to portray in our respective arts, which body images shape us, what we know about them—and how we can consciously shape them. We examine how a “theatrical moment” arises for us: Who experiences what, where, and how? What expectations do we ourselves bring with us, and what expectations do we want to awaken in the audience?

And finally: Who is this audience anyway? Where do we find it, how do we address it, how do we invite it? Through joint exchange and practical impulses, we approach the question of how dramaturgy can be understood as a living process – as an encounter between us and those who experience our work.

Maren Witte lives and works in Berlin as a freelance dramaturge and systemic supervisor. In 2009, she founded the educational format TANZSCOUT Berlin. Since 2015, she has been professor of context and theory of the performing arts at the University of Arts in Social Work, Ottersberg.

  • 12.12. // Let’s Get Visible – Distribution, Networking & Booking in the Performing Arts [ENG]

The piece is done – but how does it find its way into the world?

Physical Theatre and Circus maker Felix Baumann (Berlin) and booking agent Nikola Krizkova (Prague) offer a hands-on insight into the professional collaboration between an artist and an agent. Together, they explore how a production travels from the studio to stages in other cities, countries, and festivals – and which strategies, networks, and tools can support that journey. At the core are three key factors: distribution, networking, and booking. How does communication with theatres, platforms, and presenters work? What do agencies look for when they decide to take on a production? And which materials, connections, and communication channels really make a difference when it comes to successfully placing your work?

The workshop will also look at how to put on a show and tour it – in Berlin, across Germany, and throughout Europe. In Berlin, participants will get an overview of venues and spaces that play a vital role in the city’s independent performing arts scene. From there, the discussion expands to the German and European performing arts network, asking what it means to position your work within a broader artistic market.

In true DIY spirit, the seminar also touches on self-curated festivals or performance series as alternative models of distribution and visibility. How can artists take initiative to create their own platforms, connect with peers, and present their work independently?

Networking and booking are explored as both professional and personal processes: building contacts with venues and festivals, making initial contact in person or via email, following up (“dran bleiben”), calling, meeting, and staying connected – understanding that it’s often a long path. Networking, after all, is about meeting people, making friends, finding your place, and building your map within the performing arts landscape.

Through practical examples from the international touring and festival circuit, the seminar creates space for questions, exchange, and strategic reflection: How do I define my artistic “market,” “circle,” or outreach (dance, circus, theatre, etc.)? What role does authenticity play in the booking process? And how can I build a sustainable presence in the independent scene – without getting lost in the networking jungle?

A seminar for all those who not only create their work, but also want to make it visible.

  • 09.01 // Don‘t be scared to share - Feedback Methods for Artistic Processes

This workshop teaches formats for participatory knowledge and experience production through perception exercises: What did I see/hear/feel, how did it affect me? A playful exploration of our knowledge, which is not acquired but experienced through action. Together, we will try out verbal, visual, and body-based feedback methods in practice. The methods follow the idea of collective learning based on empowerment and dialogue. They focus on the principle of giving between the person receiving feedback and the person(s) asked to give feedback.

As a participant in the workshop, you are required to see yourself as a learning being and to be willing to relate to each other and learn from each other. You should be prepared to share your own experiences and knowledge, to constructively link different perspectives, and to acknowledge ambiguities and differences.

The workshop will be led by Constanze Kresta and Angelika Waniek from “you are warmly invited.”

›you are warmly invited‹ is an initiative for reflection and feedback on the state of contemporary performing arts. Its goal is to promote networking among artists, collegial exchange, and visibility.
