DanceEducation

Improving and expanding opportunities for dance and movement educators in Germany is very important to us. Since 2007, we have been developing new educational formats that aim to provide artists and educators with a diverse range of options tailored to their needs, enabling them to expand their skills and explore new professional areas. In this way, they make important socio-political, social, and health-promoting contributions to the education of children, young people, and adults through artistic movement.

These educational offerings provide the opportunity for a comprehensive engagement with the field of dance education, one's own teaching staff, and a holistic approach to the genre of dance. The diverse curriculum brings together artists from different artistic and personal backgrounds and promotes creative potential in educational and artistic processes. The aim is to train responsible and reflective teachers who meet the requirements of contemporary movement education in a variety of professional fields, are aware of the possibilities and importance of their future work, and can thus shape their professional lives in a sustainable manner.

Possible fields of work include: Early childhood education (daycare, preschool), schools, universities and academies, cultural educational institutions (youth centers, music schools, etc.), teaching in continuing education programs for teachers and other professionals who work with dance and movement, sports facilities, museum theaters, companies, dance ensembles and studios, care facilities for seniors

The educational programs are aimed at people who

  • are motivated, reliable, and open to new ideas.
  • already teach and want to develop further, expand their network, or reflect on their previous work in a protected space with advice and organization from others.
  • who want to prepare intensively for a degree or training program.
  • for whom artistic and creative work has long been part of their lives and who need a break from their current activities to make room for a meaningful upgrade...
  • aged 20 to 60

The programs focus on teaching work in the semi-professional field. Didactic and methodological seminars are at the forefront.

In order to support our students individually and strengthen cooperation and mutual learning, we work in fixed groups. The languages of instruction are German and English. We provide extensive support to our international applicants, but also expect them to make a serious effort to learn German.

We currently offer three focus programs and the option of certification:

  • FOCUS 1: Didactics / Methods / Training

Participants are introduced to the core competencies of dance and movement education. The focus is on didactic and methodological seminars. The program serves to establish and consolidate basic knowledge and skills in movement instruction as well as theoretical background knowledge.

It is possible to participate in all training courses of the Educational Year Dance

  • FOCUS 2: Creation / Choreography / Authorship

In everyday teaching, creative and educational processes go hand in hand. Smaller études or large rehearsals should be created regularly with different target groups. This requires knowledge.

This program therefore focuses on artistic and creative work as well as the production process. This is comprehensively realized through participation in our CCA program. You can find all the information you need here.

  • FOCUS 3: Profiles / Project / Exchange

This intensive program focuses on working with different target groups. It teaches participants about age-specific characteristics, physical and psychological characteristics, and didactic approaches, and encourages them to develop their own stylistic teaching skills.

  • Move & Teach - Dance Education Qualification

If you complete all three focus programs, you will have the opportunity to have your teaching skills certified after passing an exam.

This includes performance assessments and a project assignment. You will also need to complete teaching observations.

Teaching observations serve to familiarize yourself with, compare, and reflect on different methods and models of dance education. They also support participants in finding their own teaching personality and developing teaching concepts.

If you complete all intensive programs and your exam in succession, it will take you approximately 13 months. Of course, you can also take breaks between the intensive programs. This will take longer, but you can better adapt it to your life situation.
