MOVE & TEACH is a modular dance-teaching qualification in Berlin. Some people also search for this as "dance teacher training" or "dance teacher certification." We officially call it Tanzvermittlung, because the programme is designed for performing artists who already have an artistic practice and want to further qualify as educators.
You earn your certificate by completing three modules: TanzVermittlung: Didactics & Methods, Creation / Choreography / Authorship, and TanzVermittlung: Target Groups & Exchange. Once you've completed all three, you take a final exam. You can take the modules in the order shown below, or arrange them flexibly to fit your life.
As part of SENECA INTENSIV, an established educational institution in Berlin-Marzahn, we create a space for reflection for artists and educators. Our goal is to prepare you for the complex demands of contemporary dance-teaching concepts and to open up sustainable career prospects in cultural education. Individual mentoring supports you throughout the programme as you develop as a teacher.
The foundations of professional dance teaching: didactic thinking, methodological range, and building a responsible teaching practice, from lesson planning through to developing your own teaching style.
An interdisciplinary practice module for the independent scene: you develop your own artistic voice and choreographic projects from first idea through to presentation, supported by individual mentoring and hands-on knowledge of production and positioning.
A specialisation in diversity and inclusion: you'll adapt dance teaching to different age groups and physical starting points, from children to seniors, and learn which psychological and physical factors influence learning outcomes.
