MOVE & TEACH
Qualification dance education
MOVE & TEACH is an educational program for performing artists with a focus on teaching artistic dance movement. It offers the opportunity for comprehensive engagement with the field of dance education, one's own teaching staff, and a holistic approach to the genre of dance. The diverse curriculum brings together artists from different artistic and personal backgrounds and promotes creative potential in educational and artistic processes. The aim of this continuing education program is to train responsible and reflective teachers who can meet the demands of contemporary movement instruction in a variety of professional fields, are aware of the possibilities and importance of their future work, and can thus shape their professional lives in a sustainable manner.
Graduates of MOVE & TEACH meet the requirements for developing, implementing, and leading interdisciplinary art education projects that take integrative aspects into account. They can develop, teach, and implement professionally sound and physically appropriate lessons for various target and age groups, either independently or in a team. In this way, they make important socio-political, social, and health-promoting contributions to the education of children, young people, and adults through artistic movement.
Possible fields of work include: Early childhood education (daycare, preschool), schools, universities and academies, cultural educational institutions (youth centers, music schools, etc.), teaching in continuing education programs for teachers and other professionals who work with dance and movement, sports facilities, museum theaters, companies, dance ensembles and studios, care facilities for seniors.
This program includes our
CCA.

Further information on content and structure:
Participants are trained in the core competencies of dance and movement education. The focus is on didactic and methodological seminars. The program serves to establish and consolidate basic knowledge and skills in movement instruction as well as intensive theoretical background knowledge. In order to promote continuous growth in skills and knowledge, intensive practical and theoretical seminars are offered in the following areas: voice, medicine, psychology, project management and organization, dance, physical theater, circus, history, visual arts, and other genres.
Work shadowing, teaching trials, and artistic work support practical relevance and the transition to professional life. Networking and seminars on topics such as law, insurance, and project design prepare students for possible start-ups and freelance work.
The opportunity for daily training serves to maintain physical fitness and offers the chance to gain insight into other areas of movement arts.
The program consists of practical and theoretical seminars. However, based on the principle of interaction between practice and theory, these teaching methods are not strictly separated, but influence each other. The program structure offers the body and voice a healthy balance of activity and rest periods, while at the same time optimally preparing participants for the physically demanding work of educators in the field of artistic movement.
MOVE & TEACH - Qualification dance and movement education is divided into 4 sections.
Section 1 - Basic methodological and didactic knowledge
September to October, Monday to Thursday, from 8.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (except on public holidays and Berlin school vacations) + time for self-study)
Section 2 - Creative process
Participation in the CCA program: November to mid-February, Tuesday to Thursday 10.30 to 15.00 + Friday 10.30 to maximum 17.00. The focus is on artistic-creative work and the production process.
Section 3 - Target group specification
Mid-February to early July, Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (except on public holidays and during Berlin school vacations) + time for self-study
The focus is on working with different target groups (early childhood education, primary school age, youth, seniors, inclusion). Here, knowledge about age-specific characteristics, physical and psychological characteristics, and didactic approaches is imparted, and participants are encouraged to develop their own stylistic teaching skills.
Teaching samples serve to test the dance education skills developed and to acquire and consolidate teaching practice. The protected environment of the training course is designed to encourage participants to try out new things and to recognize, reflect on, and analyze mistakes as opportunities for learning.
Section 4 - Examination phase and certification
For those who wish to complete the training with a certificate after the seminar phase, the final section now follows. This includes internships, work shadowing, performance assessments, and project work.
Work shadowing serves to familiarize participants with, compare, and reflect on different methods and models of dance education. Furthermore, the observation periods support participants in finding their own teaching personality and developing teaching concepts.
