Artistic practice is not created in a vacuum. It operates within social, political and institutional frameworks that open up scope for action, but also set limits. The seminar invites you to reflect on your own practice in relation to society, politics and cultural institutions and to develop your own stance.

The aim is to develop a better understanding of the framework conditions for artistic creation in Germany and to be able to assess one's own rights as well as the responsibility of artists within a democratic social system. Using examples from the past and present, challenges of artistic practice are discussed and the social potential of art is worked out.

The seminar does not provide a political position, but rather dramaturgical expertise and orientation in order to make artistic work more self-determined and strategic in a social context.

In German and English spoken language.
