A seminar in cooperation with Tanzbüro Berlin and Seneca Intensiv

Funding system, cultural committee, senate administration, association work: Sounds a bit like everyday artistic life. And yet knowledge of these and other structures is essential to understand the conditions under which professional dance actors work in Berlin.

Marie Henrion and Clara Dünnebeil from Tanzbüro Berlin bring orientation into the confusion. How does it all actually work — and what does it have to do with me? Together, we look at political structures and funding logics, at association and lobbying, and at how cultural-political work can actually make a difference. Because some things that seem self-evident today — such as the Dance Practice scholarship program or fee limits — were once wild visions.

The latest drastic cuts for Berlin's cultural landscape show how fragile the cultural-political system can be — the Tanzbüro Berlin was also on the verge of complete abolition.

The seminar is aimed at anyone (including other artistic fields) who want to understand the structures in which they work, with the aim of reducing barriers and making room for action visible.

As a central point of contact, Tanzbüro Berlin offers comprehensive advice for professional dance artists, makes Berlin's globally unique dance landscape visible with bundling public relations and acts as a mediator between the dance scene, cultural administration and cultural policy.

Spoken in German, with Q&A in English.
